[Roll Call] Climate issue advocate Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I., is once again pushing for a price on carbon dioxide in a bill he introduced Wednesday.

With virtually no chance of passage before year’s end, Whitehouse said he put it out now to get started on a conversation with Republicans in the next Congress…

He sees his bill – which would set a price on carbon dioxide based on an Office of Management and Budget assessment and would provide corporate, wage and low income tax breaks – as a corollary to EPA’s proposed carbon dioxide regulations.

“The EPA power plant rules make this a much better discussion,” he said, while hinting at the possibility that revisions to the rules might be in the offing to gain Republican support…
