Even letting the debate continue, when our species may hang in the balance, says something about us. I argue that there is a certain presumptuousness surrounding our approach to how we are addressing global warming that goes well beyond simply having a short-term perspective. What if the cockroach has a more sustainable position? I recommend the following post: http://euandus3.wordpress.com/2009/11/05/climatic-presumption-what-is-the-forecast/

Reduced GDP, labor markets and purchasing power. None of these sound like things that we can afford, especially for a policy that will provide little, if any, environmental benefit. Write your Congressmen and voice opposition to cap and trade at http://tiny.cc/LwNo2.

mine disaster statistics do mean that mining is safer then ever, however one must remember that there are fewer mines and fewer miners. In effect the decrease in mine injuries and deaths is a direct result of less men underground, or above ground for that matter. There is also no mention of how mining companies might be fined for safety violations and through the current process can cut their financial losses to almost criminal amount.
